How To Change The Brake Pads On A Harley Sportster

Start out by unscrewing the plug on the upper right hand side.

Behind the plug there is the pin that holds the brake pads into place. Unscrew the pin slowly.  (Do NOT remove pads from caliper.

The retainer clip can be replaced with the new one supplied in the kit. It is very difficult and doesn't need to be replaced unless previously damaged.

Install new inside brake pads using the same orientation as had previously removed. Make sure front mounting tab is seated in retainer clip with friction pad facing rotor. ***

Replace the flathead bolt plug.

Pump brake pedal to movement piston out until he contacts outside brake pad. Verify piston location confronting pad. Position motorbike upright. Check brake fluid level in primary cylinder and restriction fluid if

needed. ** Avoid making difficult stops for the offset 100 miles this allows the new pads to become conditioned to the restriction discs
